What is Steel Cut Oatmeal

Steel cut oatmeal is the marketing name for 'oat groats', which are the type of oatmeal which has been through the least forms of processing, before it hits the box (then your dish!)

Also known as pinhead, or Irish oatmeal, steel cut oats have been chopped into several pieces with very sharp, steel cutting tools.

Why Have Steel Cut Oats Become So Popular?

Basically, they take longer to cook. Don't expect to be cooking your steely oats, then munching on them in 5 minutes, like regular oats.

They take around 30 minutes to cook!

And people love them because they take a lot longer for your digestive system to be done consuming them, which means you feel 'fuller' for longer.

Which in turn means that you can go longer with out consuming any other foods, because you won't be hungry!
